Bus Usage Prediction
This master thesis aims at developing a smartphone application that can predict, whether someone is sitting in a bus and at which stop the passenger will leave the bus.
The purpose of this study is to find opportune moments to send passengers location relevant information. Of particular interest are the last one or two stop, where we would like to prompt a user to leave the bus early to walk the remaining distance. Using this, we can promote a healthier behavior in people with Diabetes Type 2.
The successful applicant will write a smartphone application that can accurately predict, whether someone is sitting in a bus or not. Ideally this application will also be able to identify the last and second last stop of the trip. This smartphone app can use any possible combination of sensor data to make its prediction. As this app is intended for Switzerland we will provide a dataset containing all the routes, stops, stop times and many more for all public transportation in Switzerland (http://gtfs.geops.ch/).

You should bring:
- Experience in programming
- Skills or the interest to learn the basics of machine learning
- Interest in human behavior prediction based on smartphone data
- ETH / UZH students are preferred
