MRI with short-lived signals
The aim of this project is to strengthen pioneering efforts in MRI of tissues and tissue components with very short-lived resonance signals.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with zero echo time (ZTE) promises to expand the scope of MRI to solid tissues and macromolecules to which it has traditionally been blind. Several components of the MRI system are adapted in order to capture and encode signals that decay too rapidly to be detected by standard MRI systems, such as those stemming from myelin and collagen.
The aim of the project is to explore an emerging application of ZTE MRI to basic research and medicine. The project involves different aspects of ZTE MRI, including sample selection and preparation, spectroscopic and imaging experiments, and data analysis. Specific details of the project can be tailored depending on interest and experience.
