Semester or Bachelor Thesis: Model-based Concept Design with Simulation of 3D-Printers
The goal of this project is to model designs of FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printers in SysML (Systems Modeling Language) and evaluate them using AMESim simulation.
Keywords: Concept Design of alternative FDM 3D printers; Model-based Systems Engineering with SysML; Model Simulation with AMESim
The goal of this project is the design, formal modeling and simulation of alternative concepts for FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) based 3D printers derived from a functional model in SysML (the Systems Modeling Language). Functional modeling helps to break down the design problem into manageable elements, by describing what a system is doing. The derived system architectures, which specify how these functionalities are fulfilled through components are then evaluated. For this, simulation models in AMESim (simulation software for multi-domain systems) are developed in the project and integrated into the SysML model using a design library. Intended results are models of different evaluated 3D printer concepts, while focusing on how to ensure traceability between printer functions, components and simulation models.
