Current camera accessories offer only limited customization of aesthetics and functionality, since they are typically mass manufactured. Additive Manufacturing (AM) has already been identified as promising alternative due to its unique capability of producing highly complex parts in low quantities with reduced cost. It enables new value creation models (such as co-design or production), especially when combined with digital tools such as online design configurators. Therefore, we see a large potential in the combination of mass customization and AM for the field of camera accessories, most prominently for ergonomic parts.

In this project, your task is to develop and implement an intuitive design configurator for 3D printed camera handles using Rhino / Grasshopper . Based on simple inputs, the tool shall generate a customized geometry for 3D printing. You will have the opportunity to design an end-to-end solution together with an industrial partner, including need finding with selected test users, prototyping and implementation within a real business context.
