Development of a “pseudo” direct-drive motor
This project is about the development and design of an integrated "pseudo" direct-drive motor for legged robotics.
Keywords: direct drive, system design, electric motor, machanical design, motor control
In this project, the goal is to develop a fully integrated “pseudo” direct-drive motor for legged robotics. Direct drive motors consist of a high-torque motor and a low ratio gearbox. By this means, you can achieve high torques for acrobatic maneuvers, high controllability and robustness against impact.
We have developed a proof-of-concept of such a motor, which has shown the capabilities of the system and we have experience with custom motor controller design through development of the ANYdrive [1].
Your job will be to develop a first, fully integrated hardware design (mechanically and electrically).

We are looking for motivated and independent student that has practical experience with system, mechanical and CAD design (NX). A general understanding of electrical motor control theory and electronics design is a useful asset
