Functional coatings for gas sensing
Keywords: chemical engineering material sensing nanotechnology
Project:
Quartz-based piezoelectric sensors leverage a change in resonance frequency to quantify species on their surface. As such they are promising candidates for ultrasensitive fractional gas detection with coating with a selective functional material. In particular, nanostructured materials offer unique avenues due to enhanced reactivities and exceptionally high surface area. Your task is to develop nanoparticle-based coatings for gas sensing, including deposition, testing and characterization of the sensing layer.
You are:
- a bachelor or master student in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or related field
- motivated to learn new skills in nanomaterial synthesis, deposition processes and setup automatization
- authorized to work in Switzerland and able to work part time (up to 2.5 days a week) on a flexible schedule
