Building an electromagnetic simulation model of an MR scanner using CST
An MR scanner is a very hostile environment electromagnetically speaking and contains extremely strong static magnetic fields as well as very powerful dynamic fields. These fields interact with anything present inside the scanner bore, such as electronic systems, which can cause unwanted results. Creating a simulation model that can predict some of these interactions would be a valuable tool for developing new MR compatible hardware. In this project the student would be using a commercial simulation tool, CST, that is used for research purposes in MRI, telecom, particle accelerators and many other fields.
