PhD Position
1 open PhD position in the area of medical robotics and navigation. The position is part of the PhD program at the Graduate School for Computing in Medicine and Life Sciences (www.gradschool.uni-luebeck.de)
Keywords: image data
correlations
machine learning
The Institute for Robotics and Cognitive Systems (www.rob.uni-luebeck.de) at the University of Lübeck has 1 open PhD position in the area of medical robotics and navigation. The position is part of the PhD program at the Graduate School for Computing in Medicine and Life Sciences (www.gradschool.uni-luebeck.de). The PhD position is fully funded for 3 years with a monthly stipend of 1,600 EUR.
Project:
Correlation between motion patterns and neural activity in C. elegans
Image data from small animals are analyzed to derive motion patterns of the animals under microscope. The derived data control the motion a specialized holographic and non-invasive optical device, capable of detecting neural activity. From the neural activation pattern, correlations to the observed motions are derived. Methods from machine learning shall be applied to find such correlations.
For further information regarding the project, please contact Achim Schweikard
(schweikard@rob.uni-luebeck.de or +49 (0)451 3101 5200).
Requirements: Students (m/f) with a master's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics, physics or engineering are invited to apply. A strong background in robotics, image and signal processing is highly desirable. Excellent programming skills, analytical problem solving and organizational abilities are required.
Application details: The earliest starting date is the 1st September 2018 and the planned duration of the project is 3 years. A full application consists of: (1) a detailed CV, (2) a statement of motivation, (3) two letters of recommendation, (4) all relevant degree certificates and grade transcripts: secondary school leaving certificate, Bachelor's degree certificate, Master's/Diploma degree certificate (please attach certified translations in German/English, if the original copies are in other languages).
Please submit your application via email by 15th July 2018 to
