Additive manufacturing (AM) enables unprecedented possibilities in design and manufacturing. It realizes the integration of functionalities that were previously too complex or impossible to produce with conventional manufacturing processes. The functional integration of mechanisms with laser-based powder bed fusion (L-PBF) is a new and rapidly growing field of research. These mechanisms enlarge the advantages of AM with new potentials, which are required in various micro- and macroscopic applications like in prosthetic, implants, robotics and surgical endoscopies.
