Master Thesis at ETH Zurich: Cough and Health Status in Heart Failure Patients
This study aims to investigate the relationship between cough and health status among heart failure patients, recognizing cough as a potential indicator of underlying health status and symptom severity.
Keywords: Digital Health, Machine Learning, Data Science, Longitudinal Data Analysis
While coughing is commonly associated with lung diseases such as asthma and chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), it is also recognized as a symptom in individuals
with heart failure. Despite its prevalence, coughing in heart failure patients has received
comparatively less attention in the research literature. However, understanding the
significance of cough in this population is crucial, as it may serve as an indicator of
underlying health status and symptom severity. This study aims to address this gap by
exploring the relationship between cough and health status among heart failure patients. By
investigating the role of cough in heart failure symptomatology and its potential implications
for patient care, we aim to enhance our understanding of this complex condition and
improve patient outcomes.
