  • The IDEA League Challenge Programme (https://idealeague.org/students/challengeprogramme/) is a programme of extra-curricular activities offered jointly by the five universities of the IDEA League. It is designed to serve our highest achieving students, who aspire to leadership positions beyond purely technical fields. The IDEA League partners join forces to offer highly qualified students a rigorous, interdisciplinary, educational programme on top of the regular curriculum in preparation for leadership roles in society. The Challenge Programme therefore teaches engineering and science students key issues involved in decision-making under conditions of uncertainty. Students learn that they will have to deal with ill-defined complex problems, where different value sets are at stake instead of focusing on an engineering assessment that can be optimized. The modules incorporate innovative teaching methods, with real-life cases, group work and industry engagement with the students. Students increase transferable competencies with special focus on the role of technology within society, and on how to bridge science and technology with ethical, societal, entrepreneurial and political topics. Further, the Golden Personality Profiler segment also provides the participants with a tool for gaining deep self-knowledge and awareness. The Challenge Programme consists of four modules, each delivered during a long weekend (Thursday morning to Sunday afternoon). The four long weekends are organized at four of the IDEA League partner institutions. The fifth IDEA League partner hosts the final presentation. To participate students must be available to participate fully in all four modules and the final presentation.
