A systematic review of farmers' uncertainty preferences
In agriculture many decisions are made under uncertainty (e.g. new technologies and pest pressure). Therefore it is important to understand farmers' uncertainty attitudes as these may affect their decisions. This thesis will complete a systematic review of farmers' uncertainty attitudes.
In agriculture, many decisions are made under risk and uncertainty. Farmers risk attitudes are widely studied (e.g. Kallas et al., 2010; Meraner et al., 2018) and the focus on uncertainty (ambiguity) attitudes has become more popular in recent years (e.g. Barham et al., 2014; Belissa et al., 2020). Many situations in agriculture are uncertain (i.e. the probability of outcomes is unknown) for example, new technologies, weather events and markets. Therefore, it is likely farmers attitudes towards uncertainty play a role in these decisions. This thesis will provide an overview of current literature which investigates farmers’ uncertainty attitudes using a systematic literature review. Currently no literature exists providing a systematic overview of farmers’ uncertainty attitudes while they exist for risk attitudes (e.g. Iyer et al., 2020).

The goal of this thesis is to provide an overview of farmers’ uncertainty attitudes. A systematic literature review will be conducted to identify studies eliciting farmers’ uncertainty attitudes and their findings.
