Risk assessment of microplastics in the environment
The pollution of the environment with plastics and microplastics is a growing problem. The goal of this research project is on the one hand to model their flows to the environment and on the other hand to perform experimental studies about the release of microplastics from products.
The pollution of the environment with plastics and microplastics is a growing problem. The goal of this research project is on the one hand to model the flows of plastics and microplastics to the environment and quantify the environmental concentrations. On the other hand, the research involves experimental studies about the release and formation of microplastics from products during use and end-of-life. These experimental results will be used to improve the flow models and understand the sources of microplastics.
The results from this work can then be used to perform an environmental risk assessment by comparing exposure concentrations with hazard data.
