DNA isolation
The Functional Materials Laboratory (FML) of ETH Zürich is a group performing world-class research in a wide variety of fields, from nanoparticle chemistry to chemical device development. We are designing and developing innovative solutions for a wide range of applications with a cost-effective approach and short time-to-result.
We are looking forward to work with a passionate and determined student/worker.
The goal is to improve and evaluate an innovative and rapid DNA extraction technology for the sample preparation to be used in collaboration with our own-developed PCR amplification device. The candidate will investigate the DNA properties in the context of DNA isolation/purification starting from cells samples. The project will not only focus on the chemical aspects of the DNA preparation but also on the design and engineering sides in order to make the technology applicable in limited-resources environments and point-of-care scenarios, with the ultimate goal of realizing a rapid and user-friendly DNA extraction kit.
You will work next to a young and motivated team, and we will provide you with all the instruments to conduct your experimentations under the best conditions in a fully equipped laboratory!
Ideal position for thesis, student projects, or research assistant work.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
