Integration of waste heat from waste incineration plant into low-temperature thermal networks.
We are looking for a semester project student to strengthen our energy hub modelling team on the Integra-tion of waste heat from waste incineration plants into low-temperature thermal networks.
Keywords: energy system modelling, multi-energy system, decarbonization, heating, optimization
Empa is the research institute for materials science and technology of the ETH Domain and conducts cutting-edge research for the benefit of industry and the well-being of society. The Urban Energy Systems Laboratory develops methods and tools to model, design, and assess the building and urban systems with a focus on energy hubs, multi-energy grids, decarbonization, and integration of renewable energy as well as storage systems.
As energy simula-tions are data-intensive, you would be involved in defining and setting up data structures and modelling in-dustrial sites and utility grids.
Domain-specific knowledge in energy system simulation is a plus. The candidate should be proficient in English; basic comprehension and oral skills in German are desirable. We are offering a multi-faceted and challenging position in a modern research environment with excellent infrastructure.
