Force Torque Sensor for Space Robotics
Grasping and manipulation of unknown objects in space and robotic surgery requires forces to be detected in a precise and robust way. The challenge of this project is to design and identify all critical requirements for a space qualified sensor and develop a prototype.
Keywords: Safety critical applications, Force torque sensor, Embedded electronics
In this project a force torque sensor, its embedded electronics and firmware for safety critical applications are going to be developed. The sensor should be able to measure 1 axis force according to space standards. This can be very beneficial for grasping and manipulation of unknown and complex shape objects in space such as satellites docking stations, space debris or even construction of bases on other planets
