Vectorising historical transport maps
IVT is looking for a HiWi to support us in vectorising historical transport maps. The research project aims in the reconstruction of Western Europe’s historical transport network.
The work includes several tasks:
- - Online searches for historical maps
- - Collect map metadata
- - Processing of scanned maps with Gimp or Adobe etc.
- - Geocoding the materials
- - Construction of the historical transport geometries in GIS
- - Inspection of and attribute adding to the vector datasets
Prior knowledge in GIS is helpful, but not essential. The workload is circa 7 to 9 hours per week. Salary is according to the ETH benchmark 28 CHF/hour. We are looking for a HiWi for now and during spring semester 2018, where the bulk of work will be in the beginning.
