Student Research Assistant (HiWi) in Robotics
We are looking for bachelor / master students to work part time to support the development of robotic platforms and assist with the preparations and execution of the Robotics Summer School taking place from July 8 through July 14 2023.

You will have the opportunity to help with preparing and carrying out the Robotics Summer School (RSS). Furthermore, you will help in maintaining and improving the robotic platform employed during RSS.
For this position, you should have the following skills:
- Existing knowledge about ROS is a must.
- Familiar with using Linux.
- Existing experience with mobile robots is a plus.
- Good coding skills are favourable.
- Accurate and independent way of working.
Your working hours throughout the semester are flexible and negotiable and depend on the availability of work packages. During the semester, there is a regulatory limit of 15 hours per week. To work as a Student Research Assistant (HiWi), you need to be enrolled as a student at ETH Zurich or another university.
The preferred starting date is March 2023 and a commitment throughout the Robotics Summer School (taking place from July 8 through July 14 2023) is required.

The focus of your work will be to prepare the robots employed at the Robotics Summer School and to assist the participants of the summer school to operate the robots as well as to help the participants during the tutorials. The robotic platform used during RSS is the SuperMegaBot, a four-wheeled robot with a custom built payload that incorporates various sensors and the capabilities to process the sensory data.
Additional work packages to prepare the summer school are distributed amongst the student research assistants according to their skills and interests. Possible tasks are:
- Help with improving/adapting existing tutorials of the previous edition of the RSS.
- Create & update existing documentation.
- Improve the low-level controller of the SuperMegaBot.
- Improve the ROS/Gazebo based simulation environment to include more details of the software pipeline running on the real robot.
- Improve the deployment of the (existing) simulation environment.
