Virtual 3D training environment for biology lab experiments in Virtual Reality
Using Unity 3D, we will design a Virtual Reality cytology lab experience to animate the procedures in a biology laboratory and enable users to experience them in VR.
Keywords: virtual reality, training, game design, risk assessment, biology
Cytology (also known as cytopathology) involves examining cells from bodily tissues or fluids to determine a diagnosis. A certain kind of scientist called a pathologist looks at the cells in the tissue sample under a microscope and looks for characteristics or abnormalities in the cells. The process includes the preparation, examination, and diagnosis through various steps, tools, and products. In this project in collaboration with the University of Zürich, the Universitätsspital of Zürich, and the Game Technology Center, we will develop a platform to train individuals on running a cytology test in an interactive Virtual Reality application. Additionally, we will implement hazardous events in the application for safety training in a cytology lab.
Note: We are looking for a motivated computer science bachelor or semester student, who is curious about Virtual Reality and game design. Experience with Unity and C# is strongly preferred for this project. Experience in 3D modeling and animation is a plus.
