15 - 17 September, 2020 - Urbanization, digitalization and general environmental changes are leading to a rethinking in society regarding mobility. This year's Summer School is therefore intended to serve as a platform to learn how mobility will change.
Urbanization, digitalization and general environmental changes are leading to a rethinking in society regarding mobility. On the one hand, these influences have an impact on the living habits of people and their mobility preferences. On the other hand, these changes bring a variety of new opportunities and technological innovations in the field of mobility suppliers with them. It is more important than ever to ensure sustainable, comfortable and affordable mobility, with technologies such as hybridization and electrification contributing to development. This year's Summer School is therefore intended to serve as a platform to learn how mobility will change and offers its participants the opportunity to exchange and discuss different expectations and opinions on a high academic level.
In forward-looking lectures by internal and external experts from science and industry, participants will learn about global megatrends and technologies that will determine our mobility in the coming years. In a demanding interdisciplinary group work, the participants will show how challenges and opportunities can be combined most advantageously.
In addition to this theoretical approach, IDEA League Summer Schools also provide the possibility to connect with high-achieving students from various different countries by taking part in an enriching international and interdisciplinary knowledge exchange.
The 2020 Mobility Summer School is hosted by the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) of RWTH Aachen University, Europe’s leading institute in automotive engineering, whose approach encompasses the development of next-generation ideas and innovative concepts for components and systems up to vehicle-level prototypes. ika’s divisions work in public-funded as well as bilateral projects for manufacturers and suppliers in an automotive context.
