Crime Simulations (Master Thesis)
Simulate crime hotspots in different Environments and experiment with the effects of police presence
Keywords: crime, simulation, agent-based modeling, simulation, social modeling, computational social science
Build a simple agent-bases model (ABM) to simulate crime patterns within different environments (so called crime generators and crime attractors). Experiment with the effect of police patrols on different types of crime hotspots. How is crime influenced by police pres-ence? Does it disappear? Is crime displaced to a nearby location?
The simulation will be built using Netlogo, an easy to use tool for building simple ABM’s.
