Influence of the Skin Topography on Suction Experiments
In the modeling process of skin the stratum corneum is usually neglected due to its size although measurements tell it is by far the stiffest of all layers. This projects investigates whether this assumption is valid.

configuration.
• Simulation of strains and stresses in the microrelief during suction experiments and comparison with experimental results.
• Literature review on skin micro-relief and measurement of ex-vivo skin reliefs using a confocal microscope.
• Development of a hyperelastic model including the microrelief and studying its effect in standard
mechanical experiments.
