Processing of Corrugated Laminates
Compared to flat composite plates, the structural behavior of corrugated laminates is dominated by the extreme anisotropy, which is a result of the characteristic geometry. However, manufacturing of these kind of composites is not straightforward, especially in case of large corrugation amplitudes.
The project will include the following tasks:
- Literature Research on corrugated laminates in general and on autoclave processing.
- Refinement of the concept (autoclave processing)
- Design of the setup, including material choice.
- Mold production
- Manufacturing of specimens
- Quality assessment of the produced parts, includ-ing discussion of possible improvements.
- If possible also mechanical testing of the manufactured specimens.

The aim of this thesis is to further elaborate and realize a manufacturing concept for corrugated laminates. The latter will be based on autoclave processing of thermosetting composites.
At a later project stage, the results of the first phase will be used in order to manufacture specimens of laminates with a high corrugation amplitude. This will take place in the CMASLab workshops.
