Advancing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)
fMRI is one of the most widely used techniques to assess the brain's functional organisation. Advancing any aspect of this technology is the goal of this project.
Keywords: fMRI, MRI, signal processing, reconstruction, image analysis
fMRI is used to measure brain activity in-vivo and non-invasively. It provides an indirect measure of neuronal activity as it is sensitive to metabolic changes caused by local neuronal activity. In this project any aspect of fMRI can be investigated and advanced. Possible topics would be:
- Signal acquisition: How to measure the MR-Signal? E.g. trajectory design
- Image reconstruction: How to compute an image from the measured MR-Signal?
- Image analysis: How to analyze fMRI images? Especially with high spatiotemporal resolution.
