Research Assistant and PhD Student – Internet of Things – Smart Home
You have a background in computer science or information systems or energy/sustainability technology? You are eager to make smart home a reality? You are also interested in exploring the business opportunities of the Internet of Things? We are looking for you.
Keywords: internet of things, smart home
Who are we?
The Bosch IoT Lab is a cooperation of Robert Bosch GmbH, University of St. Gallen (HSG) and ETH Zurich. Chair of the Lab is Prof. Dr. Elgar Fleisch. We are exploring the Internet of Things in the domains “Smart Home” and “Connected Mobility”, both from a technological and business perspective. Our work aims to be rigorous – with impact in the related scientific communities – and relevant for Bosch.
What do we offer?
We are investigating and developing novel smart home technology and evaluate them in real-world field tests.
As part of our interdisciplinary team, you take direct project responsibility and maintain close relationships with our research partners, i.e. Thermo Technology Divisions of Bosch. Good payment conditions and workplaces make this attractive package complete. The average duration for successfully obtaining a PhD in our team is 3 1/2 years.
Whom are we looking for?
You should have experience with information systems, data analytics and programming with a degree preferably in computer science. Furthermore, you should have a GPA (Grade Point Average) of at least 5.0 (GPA of 2.0 and better in Germany or Austria) to be eligible for a PhD at the University of St. Gallen and ETH Zurich. Finally, a profound knowledge (written/oral) of German and English is required. A background in the energy, sustainability or building technology is a plus.
