Usability Testing of Graphical User Interface in Neonatal Oxygenation Levels Monitoring
Design of the study to quantify the easiness of use of the UI e.g. through
investigation of learnability, memorability and error-tolerance of the user interface.
Keywords: Usability Testing of Medical Devices, User centered design, Human Factors
Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) allows non-invasive measurements of tissue oxygenation in humans e.g. of the cerebral oxygenation in neonates. To perform well in clinical setting our in-house built NIRS devices need to satisfy the needs of medical professionals. One of the important keystones of usability is the computer interface. We want to test the usability of our functional prototype of the user interface UI in the real clinical setting of neonatology. The results of the usability test will be used to improve the current prototype.

Discovering the strengths and the shortcomings of the existing UI prototype for the use in real clinical setting by means of the to-be-designed tests is the main goal of this project.
