The goal of this project is to develop a system for human-robot cooperation for a manipulation task on a tabletop-sized workspace. The project involves these components:
- Identify a suitable robot arm for the manipulation task, or design a custom arm
- Identify a suitable adhesion gripper to handle target objects
- Develop a vision system to detect and manipulate target objects, using a depth camera such as Intel RealSense
- Develop safety sensing to avoid impact with the human participant
The project will suit a student who is interested in
- Computer vision including visual servoing and camera calibration
- Working with a depth sensor such as Intel RealSense
- Working in C++ in the ROS (Robotics Operating System) framework, using libraries such as OpenCV and PCL
The goal is to make a complete working system, and to demonstrate a human-robot cooperative interaction for a target application on a tabletop. This is a joint project of ASL and Disney Research Zurich, with the opportunity to work in both labs. Applicants should have some existing project experience with computer vision and C++.
