Open OpportunitiesThe increasing share of intermittent renewable energy penetration from wind and solar into the power grid presents several challenges related to grid stability and reliability. In response to these challenges, there is a growing interest in integrating short and long-term storage systems into the grid. One potential concept to support renewable energy integration is to leverage the thermal mass of buildings. By activating and controlling their thermal latency, it may become possible to participate in reserve markets, thus enabling a building as an active element for enhancing grid stability. - Building Science and Techniques, Control Engineering, Systems Theory and Control

| Previous research has explored the relationship between layer morphology and optical properties in 3DP facades. It was found that the layer aspect ratio and the quality of the layer interfaces affect the amount of light transmission through a part and determine angle-dependent behavior. These effects can be leveraged to design and fabricate building facades with tunable optical properties, responding to specific climate and user requirements.
