AirScale aims to revolutionize the way immobile patients' weight is measured in hospitals. The prevailing method demands the time of 2-3 nursing professionals, taking up about 10 minutes per patient, and thus is limited to one daily weighing. AirScale’spioneering solution seeks to bypass this time-consuming routine while allowing more frequent measurements. In a hospital with 25 bedridden patients, this equates tofreeing up one full-time position—a vital advantage giventheswift rise inthe elderly population and thepersistent staffing challenges facedby healthcare institutions. Maintaining a high standard of care is paramount, and AirScale is poised to play a pivotal role in achieving that. AirScale has received the financial support of Innouisse. The technology development is conducted with the support of the ETH Student Project House and in close collaboration with research partners, future suppliers, and potentialcustomers. The firstinstallation in a hospital bed was performed at Universitätsspital Zürich (USZ) in November 2023, followed by a demo at Zuger Kantonsspital (ZGKS).
