Robust model predictive control (MPC) extends the guarantees provided by nominal MPC to systems subject to uncertainties, thereby ensuring safety. However, this comes at a large computational cost of propagating tubes along the prediction horizon. In this project, a novel way to ensure robustness is investigated using set invariance and constraint tightening techniques. The proposed idea could reduce the robust MPC computation times by orders of magnitude and increase feasible region compared to state-of-the-art techniques. - Control Engineering, Optimisation, Systems Theory and Control, Systems Theory and Control

| At HPE, a 20 kV / 400 A solid-state modulator using SiC MOSFETs is currently under investigation. In this project, you will simulate the influence of cell-driving jitters on the output pulse of the pulse modulator. For that, you will be working with FEM-based 3D time-domain models. - Electrical Engineering

| The main part of this project is to develop a Matlab program which calculates the winding losses in Litz wire considering 2D magnetic field effect. This program should be computational efficient. To evaluate the calculation method the FEM simulation needs to be also performed. - Electrical Engineering

| In this project you will design transformer prototypes for winding loss measurement. You will calculate the basic parameters such as the core size, and the number of turns for a given set of specifications. Based on your results, you will select off-the-shelf cores and litz wire for the transformer. To validate the design, FEM simulations are implemented and in case of a master thesis measurement are performed on prototypes. - Electrical Engineering

| In this thesis, you will develop a control scheme for operating points within the operation limits of the VSI of the HT AC/AC auxiliary converter in series to the transformer secondary winding. The development of the control scheme and the analysis of the VSI will be based on simulations in MATLAB/PLECS. - Electrical Engineering

| In this thesis the student will perform simulations to deduce an adequate scaling length for the calculation of transformer parasitic capacitances. - Electrical Engineering
- Bachelor Thesis, Master Thesis, Semester Project
| In this thesis, you will compare and select IGBT modules for the VSI of the HT AC/AC auxiliary converter in series to the transformer secondary winding. Further, you will calculate the semiconductor losses based on a thermal model for the selected switches. Additionally a design of the heat sinks and the DC-link capacitance will be part of this work. The design of the VSI components will be based on simulations in MATLAB/PLECS. - Electrical Engineering

| In this thesis the student will simulate an existing transformer geometry, extract the capacitances and compare them to measurements. - Electrical Engineering
- Bachelor Thesis, Master Thesis, Semester Project
| In this thesis the student will implement different methods which promise a fast and accurate calculation of the electric field within critical areas of transformer winding windows. After comparing the different methods a guideline can be provided for which model to use in certain applications. - Electrical Engineering
