Non-Invasive Monitoring of the Bladder Volume for SCI Population

  • ETH Zurich
  • Sensory-Motor Systems Lab

At present, no optimum solution present commercially or in published research that can provide a method for accurate, long term, non-invasive and unobtrusive bladder monitoring. In this project, the student will develop a multi-sensor system based on novel sensors and incorporate state of the art, sensor fusion algorithms to enable non-invasive bladder volume measurements for the SCI population to be tested in collaboration with the SCAI-Lab (ETHZ / SPZ) in Nottwil. The Main Host Place will be: Center for Project-Based Learningat D_ITET

Master thesis - optimal renewable integration in a refinery

  • EPFL - Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne
  • STI - Mechanical Engineering Section

This project aims to investigate the optimal pathway of renewable integration into a refinery. Various renewable sources, such as photovoltaics, concentrated solar power and wind energy, and their integration methodologies will be evaluated in the aspects of costs, environmental impacts and renewable intermittency. This project, which will be co-directed by TotalEnergies and IPESE at EPFL, has the potential to leverage the strengths of each part by applying the advanced research results into real-world industrial applications. There are some financial supports for the successful candidate.

Master Thesis: Pitch tracking of killer whale calls

  • ETH Zurich
  • Institute of Neuroinformatics

Be part of an interdisciplinary team and contribute to a signal processing project about pitch tracking of killer whale calls. The goal is a publication about the new method that we develop and test in various example cases.

Multi-agent Drone Racing via Self-play and Reinforcement Learning

  • University of Zurich
  • Robotics and Perception

Drone racing requires human pilots to not only complete a given race track in minimum-time, but also to compete with other pilots through strategic blocking, or to overtake opponents during extreme maneuvers. Single-player RL allows autonomous agents to achieve near-time-optimal performance in time trial racing. While being highly competitive in this setting, such training strategy can not generalize to the multi-agent scenario. An important step towards artificial general intelligence (AGI) is versatility -- the capability of discovering novel skills via self-play and self-supervised autocurriculum. In this project, we tackle multi-agent drone racing via self-play and reinforcement learning.

Efficient Neural Representations for Robotic Mapping

  • ETH Zurich
  • Autonomous Systems Lab

The goal of this project is to develop a real-time neural robot mapping framework. To this end, we explore the viability of pruning down the learned components to their bare minimum in order to simplify the representation and its required training time.

Sustainable aircraft propulsion system

  • ETH Zurich
  • Institute of Machine Tools and Manufacturing

Investigating compromised bone fracture healing in mouse models using time-lapsed in vivo CT imaging and histological analysis.

  • ETH Zurich
  • Müller Group / Laboratory for Bone Biomechanics

Delayed bone healing or failed non-unions account for 5 – 10% of all bone fractures and present a challenging problem in regenerative medicine. The impact of delayed unions or non-unions can be devastating with prolonged rehabilitation, decreased quality of life and significant health care costs. Our lab has conducted fracture healing studies in young and prematurely-aged mouse models with different defect sizes. The aim of this project is to analyse data from mice which exhibit delayed unions and non-unions.
